Please join us to once again hear the talented voices of the winning young poets from our student poetry contest and greet our 2008 Poet in Residence, the major American Poet and Critic, Alicia Ostriker. As is our tradition, we will open our large barn doors of the visitors interpretive center and welcome what is always our largest crowd of the year. Winners in all categories will receive their first, second, third place and honorable mention awards. Enjoy a visit by Walt Whitman personator Darrel Ford and listen to music of the time. Bring refreshments to eat at our picnic tables and come ready for a lovely poetry event. Student anthologies will be on display. Parking will be on-street only. Come early, enjoy visiting our grounds and take a tour of the birthplace before the celebration.
