Make an Electric Circuit
Turn on the Switch! See Electricity Happen!

Thursday, February 23, 2012, at 2:00 P. M.
$15.00/child, includes all materials. Children age 9 – 11. Estimated time: 1 ½ hours
In 1819, the year of Walt Whitman’s birth, the Long Island farmhouse in which he was born did not have electricity. Fast forward to the 21st century—we expect electricity in our homes! Each participant in this program will make his/her own electric circuit by which electricity moves over wires. Electrical circuits supply electricity to different parts of a house. When the switch is turned “on,” electricity is allowed to flow, for example, to a light bulb. When the switch is turned “off,” electricity cannot flow to the light bulb. Turn on the switch! See electricity happen!
Pre-registration is required. Enrollment is limited.
