A Children's Paumanok Summer Program
9.30 - 12.00
This program offers a unique opportunity for children ages 8-12 to experience a literary, creative, educational, historical and most of all FUN adventure. Published poet and experienced art instructor, Anne Kingsbury will guide the participants.
Held on Whitman's beloved Paumanok (he preferred this Native American name for Long Island) and in the house in which he was born, the children will enjoy daily activities,as they:
* Emaulate Walt Whitman with daily themes, written at the Brithplace
* Create crafts using their own poetry: inspirational stones, magnets
* Write lyrics to a musical score
* Experiment with writing games
* Explore rhyme vs free verse
* Produce a booklet of poetry
Program meets Monday through Friday, July 12 to 16 from 9:30 AM to 12 Noon. Fee is $100 per child and it includes all materials. Reservations required.
