SYOSSET HIGH SCHOOL CELEBRATES THE ARTS IN EDUCATION”

 Teachers and students of Syosset High School give back to the communities with an Evening of Music, Art, Poetry and Film.Syosset High School students and teachers are preparing an evening celebrating the arts at the Walt Whitman Birthplace Museum in Huntington Long Island on Saturday June 5th, 2010 from 6pm-10pm.

 
The students and staff are excited to have this event to thank families on Long Island for supporting the arts in public schools with their tax dollars.  Also to support educational institutions such as the “ Walt Whitman Birthplace Museum” for their efforts to provide educational programs that teach children about one of Long Island's greatest poet. In addition our students want to reach out to families and members of the communities who are struggling in this tough economy by supporting “Island Harvest” a group that helps feed Long Islanders in need.
 
The event will include; Paintings, Sculptures, Drawings created by students and their teachers. Live musical performances will also include both students and their mentors throughout the evening. Poetry readings and short films by students will also be presented.
 
There will be a $10.00 fee charged at the entrance for Adults, students under 12 are free, all proceeds from including sales and donations will be given to both  “Walt Whitman Birthplace Museum” and “Island Harvest”.
