Children's Victorian Tea Party ~ Join the party!

$10.00/child Estimated time: 1 ½ hours
This fun and informative program includes role-playing while teaching social skills, self-esteem and confidence. Children learn dining manners for example, how to properly hold a knife and fork. In the interest of safety, apple juice will be substituted for hot tea. Participants also practice table setting and introductions. All make their own name tag and place card. Bring a friend, or your favorite doll, or come join new friends at the party! Dress up if you wish! This event takes place in our beautiful Gathering House Barn overlooking the courtyard. Program includes a tour of the Walt Whitman Birthplace.
Pre-registration is required. Enrollment is limited.

|2015 Long Island Poet of the Year Nominations|
The Walt Whitman Birthplace Association is seeking nominations for the 2015 Long Island Poet of the Year award. This award is given annually to a Long Island poet recognized regionally for the excellence of his or her work and who is active in supporting and promoting poetry on Long Island.
The nomination should consist of a brief bio/CV, including publications, artistic engagements, and community activities, and a two page sample of the poet's work. This material should be submitted by email attachment to email@example.com, or by mail to Executive Director, Walt Whitman Birthplace Association, 246 Old Walt Whitman Road, West Hills, New York 11746-4148
Nominations must be received by January 15, 2015. The WWBA Board of Trustees Program Committee will choose the awardee by January 31, 2015. The award will be presented at a reception-reading in April 2015.
