The North Sea Poetry Scene is excited to be hosting a Poetry Reading by award-winning poet and novelist Diane Frank on Saturday, April 17th. Reading along with Diane will be our very own Suffolk County Poet Laureate, Tammy Nuzzo-Morgan. In addition there will be an open mic, for all poets to share their work.
Diane was a college classmate of George Wallace's at Syracuse University, in Pulitzer Prize Winner W.D. Snodgrass's class and a former student and mentee of Pulitzer Prize Winner Stephen Dunn. She is the author of "Blaceberries in the Dream House" a novel about forbidden love between a geisha an a Buddhist monk that won the 2003 Chelsom Award for Fiction and was nominated for the 2003 Pulitzer Prize in Fiction. She is currently working on her second novel. She has also the author of many collections of poetry including Entering the Word Temple and The Winter Life of Shooting Stars, is the editor-in-chief of Blue Light Press and teaches at San Francisco State University.
Tammy Nuzzo-Morgan is the first female Suffolk County Poet Laureate and is the founder/president of TNSPS. In 2006, her poetry book, Let Me Tell You Something, was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize. She has penned 4 books, her latest is For Michael. She is the Editor of Long Island Sounds and hosts the TNSPS's Arts Forum TV Show on Channel 20. She is Chairperson for the Poetry Panel for the EEAC and is endeavoring to create an archival/arts center for LI poetry. She is the 2009 recipient of the LIWG Community Service Award.
