“Explore" - Grades 3 - 8
Students develop a clear understanding of their own Long Island community history by evoking a "sense of place" as participants in a hands-on experience with artifacts and implements of the 19th century.
Students tour the 19th century farmhouse where Walt Whitman was born. They analyze and contrast everyday living in the 19th and 21st centuries and view exhibits.
