Performing Poetry Workshop Series (3 Days)

This three-part cumulative series focuses on presentation skills like conducting attention and listener absorption through pacing, phrasing, and spatial awareness.  Discovery of authentic personal style, sensitivity to listener expectations, honoring the integrity of the poem, and the ability to make moment-to-moment adjustments, all take time and practice. Experiment with dozens of techniques, exercises, and useful guidelines.

Workshop series is designed for poets who want to explore the power of their presence, in a multitude of different capacities, to present poetry. Bring at least one 3-minute piece of your own to read to the first workshop. Participants will have the opportunity to present their work during the Open Mic on June 7th, from 7 – 9 pm.
